As promised, I am putting up my Clarisonic Mia review.
Sorry for the bad quality of picture, it is 12am-ish right now.
I have been using my Clarisonic Mia everyday, religiously, for the past 2 years. I purchased mine at eskincare store for 149 Canadian dollars plus tax, however, I also had a 15% coupon code at the time and then I got replacement brush heads as well with my purchase. Back then, Sephora, here in Toronto, did carry Clarisonic, but the price was a bit more expensive.
I am pretty sure everyone knows how Clarisonic works and what is the benefit of this product and blah blah blah, but I am still going to just paste the information from them:
Clarisonic claims to:
- 6 times more makeup removal
- Leaves skin feeling and looking younger and smoother
- Cleanses so well that products absorb better
- Gentle enough for twice daily use
- Helps reduce oily areas, dry skin patches and blemishes
- Helps reduce the appearance of visible pores
- Reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
Increases Skin Absorption by 61%
Use of the Clarisonic Skin Care Brush can significantly improve the absorption rate of skin care creams used following use of Clarisonic. A study has demonstrated up to 61 percent greater product absorption of Vitamin C after using Clarisonic.
Beneficial For Skin Conditions
Clarisonic may be beneficial to use with common skin conditions such as acne, seborrhea, eczema, and psoriasis.
Excellent Pre-Treatment For Procedures & Surgery Skin Preparation
The Clarisonic Brush is ideal as a skin preparation pre-treatment before office based dermatology and plastic surgery procedures such as injection fillers (Botox, Restylane, Juvederm, Collagen, etc.), microdermabrasion, chemical peels, laser procedures, intense pulsed light (IPL) procedures, photodynamic therapy (PDT), and facials. Proper and thorough skin cleansing assures that cosmetic procedures are being performed on skin that is free of impediments, leading to better aesthetic results.
How does it work ?
Oscillating back and forth at a sonic frequency of more than 300 movements per second, the two dynamic zones of the Clarisonic Skin Care System work with the skin, not against it. The first zone acts as a flexing action between the outer and inner brushes and works deep within the pores to loosen dirt and oil. The second zone which is the inner brush of the Clarisonic Skin Care Brush offers a back and forth oscillating motion to effectively clean, clarify and stimulate the skin.
I gave it a lot of thought before buying this because it was a huge investment, their brush heads costs 25 dollars and plus you have to replace it every 3 months. That is about 100 dollars every year.. and of course plus the 13% tax where I am living (Toronto).
Now lets see their claims:
1. I do feel that the Clarisonic cleans my skin very well compared to just using my hands. Normally, after oil cleansing and washing my face, I would still see traces of makeup residue on my cotton pads when I used toner. However after washing my face with the Mia, my cotton pad were now clean and there was no makeup residue left over.
2. I'm not sure about my skin looking younger, because I am only 24 right now and I haven't developed any lines yet, however, I did notice that my skin is a lot smoother after using the Mia for a while. This is because the oscillating bristles exfoliates your skin a little bit every time. But I do believe that my skincare products also helped (I will be writing a review about my skincare products in a separate post).
3. I do feel that overtime, that the Mia did help reduce my pore size. I have extremely oily skin and as for oil control, I am not sure, only because I believe my skincare products benefit my skin as well.
4. Did the Mia help my acne? I would say half and half. My acne is mostly hormonal, however my skin condition did improve, my pores are less congested, but I am still suffering from large painful cystic acne here and there, but not as much as before.
5. As for skincare products absorbing better, I would say yes and no on that. This is because if the skin is well exfoliated, I believe that all products would absorb better because you do not have that layer of dead skin left over, blocking all the goodness you put on your skin. However, having a well cleansed face will help products absorb better as well. So, Mia is doing a good job on that part.
What other things I like about the Mia:
1. The universal charger, cordless; travel friendly.
2. Waterproof; I like to use it in the shower because I think the hot steam will open up my pores and it helps to clean better.
3. Just because it is Pink =P
Do I recommend you to purchase it?
I think the Mia is NOT a necessity. If you have the money and are willing to spend an extra 100 per year besides your facial skincare, then I would suggest to buy it and if you wear a lot of makeup daily, I would also recommend you to buy it as well. I do not think people should buy the Mia for the purpose of getting rid of acne because its purpose is to clean in a more thorough way, so I do believe it will HELP in preventing breakouts.
If you already have nice skin and do not wear a lot of makeup or even light makeup, I think a normal cleansing tool like the Sephora silicone pad would work just fine (I might do a review on this as well).
I only use my Mia once a day, during the night, but in the morning, I use the pink Sephora silicone cleansing pad.
I am currently using the deep pore cleansing brush head and it works the best for my skin. However, I did read reviews of people who absolutely hated this brush head.
Overall, I think the Mia is a good face cleansing tool and I would recommend it.
P.s I just found out I can pop the middle part of the brush head out and it is smaller, so I can use it to scrub my nose... WOW!! AFTER 2 YEARS!!!!
P.p.s I also just found out I am on my LAST brush head!!! I used to buy my brush heads at the eskincare store, they are $25 dollars for one, HOWEVER, I just discovered another site last time and they have it in twin packs for only $40!!! It is a Canadian site called fabove. I shall go and place an order soon.
I think the eskincare store has free shipping for over $200 and fabove has free shipping for over $100.
All the prices mentioned are in Canadian dollars.
*** The product were purchased with my own hard earned money, and I am not receiving any commissions or any benefits for mentioning the 2 websites ***
Alright, it is 1 am right now and I am soooooooooo tired, so I'm going to sleep!
Hope this review was helpful.
Please comment if you have any questions.
GOOD NIGHT!!
